John Spitznagel

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Spitznagel has a long track record of success in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining NovaSom, Mr. Spitznagel served as Chairman and CEO of Oceana Therapeutics, Inc., a medical device company focused on pediatric urology and colon and rectal surgery. Prior to Oceana, Mr. Spitznagel served as Chairman and CEO for Esprit Pharma, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the genito-urinary market. Prior to that, Mr. Spitznagel was Chairman & CEO of ESP Pharma, a company he co-founded to pursue the acquisition, development and marketing of acute-care pharmaceuticals. Previous leadership positions included serving as President & CEO of Roberts Pharmaceutical and its successful merger into Shire plc, and President of the Reed and Carnrick Division of Block Drug. He began his career at Warner-Lambert in sales and marketing and spent nearly ten years at Hoffmann-La Roche and ten years at American Home Products where he was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Wyeth.

Gregory Stokes

President and Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Stokes has 22 years of pharmaceutical and medical device experience, having worked in sales, marketing and business development.  Prior to NovaSom, he served as Executive Vice President of Business Development at Oceana Therapeutics.  Previous positions included President and Chief Operating Officer of Esprit Pharma, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focusing in the genito-urinary therapeutic area, Vice President of Corporate Development for ESP Pharma, a specialty pharmaceutical company founded in 2002 to focus on the acute-care market, and Director of Business Development with Shire Plc.

Mark Janofsky

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mark has held several senior financial and administrative positions at Roberts Pharmaceuticals, ESP Pharma and Esprit Pharma, and was a co-founder of Oceana Therapeutics. While at Roberts and Oceana, he also had responsibilities with the ex-US operations. Prior to entering the life-science industry, Mark was the Chief Financial Officer for Nytronics, Inc., an avionics contractor for the defense department and had positions in public television and public accounting. He is a CPA in New York State and earned the initial Chartered Global Management accountant designation.

Ernie Biczak, M.D.

Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Ernie has held various executive positions in the Medical Affairs and Marketing Departments of ESP Pharma, ESPRIT Pharma, and EKR Pharma, and has also served as a consultant to The Medicines Company, Incline Therapeutics, and Cornerstone Therapeutics. Prior to that, Ernie practiced emergency medicine and also worked with St. Barnabas HealthCare System in NJ (now Barnabas Health) as a liaison between the healthcare system and their employed physicians.

Michael Coppola, M.D.

Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer

Past President & Chief Medical Officer of the American Sleep Apnea Association, a patient advocacy group. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and a recent Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. Previous National Medical Director of Total Sleep Diagnostics. Served on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s Practice Standards Committee Task Force for Unattended Monitoring and as Vice Chair of its Workgroup on the Sleep Medicine and the Medical Home. Editorial Board of Sleep and Breathing since 1996. Member of the Board of Directors of Health New England, a 100,000-member HMO, and of Baycare Health Partners, a PHO. Widely published, practiced in Springfield, MA.

Shawn Talley

Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Development

Mr. Talley has 15 years of strategic and tactical Human Resource expertise. Prior to joining NovaSom, Mr. Talley held senior positions at successful companies that include, ARINC Inc., Home Depot, CitiFinancial and Baxter Healthcare. At NovaSom, he has served as a strategic partner with responsibility for workforce planning, talent management, benefits, employee relations, compensation and training. Mr. Talley is an Adjunct Professor at Towson University’s Master’s program in Human Resources Development and his insights have been quoted in several publications including US News & World Report, SHRM, Training Station and Retail Leader Magazine. He currently serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of the Chesapeake Human Resources Association.
