The NovaSom home sleep test is designed to be easy for patients to administer in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.
After being prescribed a home sleep test by NovaSom, the patient will receive a box by mail that includes a bedside console and three small, comfortable sensors, which are easily applied by the patient before going to sleep. The patient receives written instructions and voice prompts from the console.
The system can be used for up to three nights to collect sleep data, including respiratory events (apneas and hypopneas), snoring intensity, blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate and respiratory effort.
Unlike a laboratory or portable Polysomnography (PSG) Sleep Study, the NovaSom home sleep test does not include additional tests that are not required for the definitive diagnosis of OSA. These channels include the Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electroocculogram (EOG), Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) and the Electromyogram (EMG).
After three nights of use, the patient returns the testing equipment by mail in the box in which it was received.
NovaSom extracts and analyzes the data and sends a comprehensive report to the prescribing physician for diagnosis. The NovaSom testing service is facilitated by our proprietary MediTrack® System, a comprehensive healthcare management system for the direct-to-patient delivery of testing services and medical products.
